ITEM 1867 – SOLD – Colt Early Officers Model Target Factory Engraved With Colt Letter

SOLD

Item Number 1867 Category

This Colt was produced in 1910 and shipped in 1913. The pistol’s serial number is 318073. It has the standard 6 inch target barrel chambered for the 38 Special. The Factory letter states that this pistol was sent to Sears Roebuck & Company;  Chicago Illinois On June 23rd 1913. The factory engraving is of the “A” style of engraving. This Colt has seen service wear and use. I was told that this pistol was used by a Oklahoma Sherriff. I purchased this Colt in a Pawn shop in Oklahoma in 2000. The action works great with no problems. The crane locks up tight with very little play. The bore and chambers are in bright minty condition. The sights are original to this pistol. The Grips are original to this Colt but uniserial numbered. The grips are in very fine condition. The checkering is sharp with no flattening of the points. The nitre blued parts retain 90% of the original finish The original bluing would rate a 86% overall condition. Most of the loss is from holster wear. The engraving is sharp and clear. There is no engraving loss or wear. The engraving is really pleasing and tasteful. There were very few Officers Model Target revolvers ever engraved by Colt’s. This is one of the very few that were done by Colt!
