HARRY VIEZENS FINE GUNS

Take a Shot at History

ITEM 1935 – SOLD- Winchester Model 63 Round Top Receiver With Rare “X” Suffix Serial Number

SOLD

Item Number 1935 Category

This Winchester was produced in 1957. The rifle’s serial number is 156760AX. The “X” suffix is only used when a serial number stamping machine die gets stuck and duplicates the same serial number on the next gun. To denote the next gun that has the same serial number the workman hand stamps a “X”  after the duplicated serial number to separate the two identical serial numbers. This happens very rarely during production of Winchester guns. This is a nice rare feature to find on a Winchester! This Model 63 has the latter style 23 inch barrel with a minty bore. The receiver top is the standard round top. This gun is in very fine lightly used condition. The original barrel blue would rate a 98% or better condition. The original receiver blue would rate a 97% or better condition. The stock and handguard retain all of the original finish. There is no cracks or damage to the good looking wood. The rifle has the original front sight intact. The rear sight is a fold down adjustable sight. The tang sight is by Lyman. The take down feature is very snug and locks up properly.  This is a very fine condition Winchester with the rare “X” suffix serial number that would appeal to the discriminating Collector!
