This Second Model Winchester was produced in 1881. The rifle’s serial number is 77444. This Winchester is fitted with the round 24 inch barrel chambered to shoot the 44 W.C.F. cartridge. The bore is in fine bright clean condition with sharp lands. The sights are original to this Winchester. This Winchester Rifle has the rare carbine receiver. Winchester ran out of rifle receivers during production. The company decided to use the carbine receivers that were in stock to keep production going. They put two plug screws to cover up where the saddle ring would normally go. This is a rare feature to find for collectors! This rifle’s receiver finish is mostly patina with traces of bluing in protected places. The barrel shows plum toned bluing. The magazine tube is mostly patina condition with traces of plum bluing. The action functions and works fine with no issues. The stock and forend have no cracks or other issues. This is a very nice Second Model Winchester with the rare Carbine Receiver.
