Colt First Generation Single Action Army In Rare 38 Colt Special In Fine Condition ITEM 2188

Item Number 2188 Category

This Colt Single Action Army was produced in 1930. The pistol’s serial number is 353837. The 5 1/2 inch barrel is chambered for the 38 Colt Special. This is one of 82 standard frame Single Actions that were chambered for this round. The bore and chambers are in very fine to near minty condition. The bullet end of the chambers has the square seat which was used in the Colt 38 Special chambers only. The 38 Smith & Wesson Special chambers were done differently. The two styles of bullets will fully interchange with no problems. This pistol is all matched serial numbers with the exception of the grips. The grips are the correct grips for this Colt and fit perfectly. However, they are serial numbered for another pistol. Colt has been known to reuse grips during the fitting of grips to new pistols. This seems to be the case with this Colt. The action works great with no issues. The pistol locks up tight with nice timing. The original color cased finish is faded somewhat on the frame, but strong in protected areas. The hammer has very strong color case finish. The top strap also shows nice color case. The barrel and ejector housing shows about 95% original bluing. The grip straps show about 50% original bluing due to expected handling and use. The grips are in very fine condition with very light wear to some of the checkering points. This is a very highly collectable Colt with a very rare chambering. To find a Pre War Colt With a rare chambering in this nice of condition is a real find for the collector! I have a partial box of 38 Colt Special Ammunition by Remington UMC. That box can be purchased separately.
