This Colt Model 1911-A1 was produced in 1941. The Pistol’s Serial number is 730505. It was shipped in May 29th 1941 to Commanding General, Springfield Armory In A shipment of 1550 Pistols. This Colt 1911-A1 Robert Sears Inspected pistol is one of the last pistols to still be blued before the attack of Pearl Harbor. This Colt has the correct original barrel chambered for the 45 A.C.P. service round. The bore is frosted with some spots of very light pitting. The lands are still prominent for good shooting ability. The original barrel blue would rate a 97% condition. This Colt also has the matching serial numbered slide. The pistol’s original bluing would rate a 95% overall condition. There is some spotting of the slide surface on the right side and also on the frame around the grip area. The action works correctly with no issues. The grips are the correct grips for this Colt. The magazine is also a correct magazine for this pistol. The magazine is an original civilian model with the 45 Colt Auto stamped floor plate that has been resurfaced for military use. These magazines are not often seen today. This Colt is a fine example of one of the last peace time military pistols produced with the blued finish before we entered World War 2. These blued Colts are very hard to find in original as issued condition. Here is a nice example of these fine pre war Colts! This box of shells is for display only and not for sale.
