This 98K rifle was produced in 1941. The rifle’s serial number is 7618 K. The ar code is for Mauser Werke Berlin- Borsigwalde. This rifle has a very fine bore with nice lands. This rifle is chambered to fire the standard German 8 m/m service round. This rifle is all matched serial numbers. The original bluing would rate a 90% condition. The rifle does show some service use and wear. The action works smoothly as would be expected. The stock is the laminated style wood stock. It has the early style butt plate that is serial numbered to this rifle.  This Mauser is an original veteran’s take home rifle! It has a duffle bag cut to the stock to be able to put that rifle in the duffle bag to take home with the soldier. The stock has been professionally glued or epoxied back together. The cut cannot be seen unless you remove the front barrel band. That is the only alteration done with this stock. The stock has the serial number matching the rifle. There is also the Heer “H’ stamp and eagle inspection stamps present on this stock. The sight hood and cleaning rod is also with this rifle. The rifle itself has not been altered at all. This is a very nice original veteran’s take home rifle with the early war time features on this rifle.
