Take a Shot at History
Take a Shot at History
This Winchester was produced in 1881. The Rifle’s serial number is 17099. This Winchester has the 28 inch octagonal barrel chambered for the 45-60 W.C.F. cartridge. The bore is in very fine bright condition with sharp lands and no pitting. The front sight is a globe windage adjustable sight base with a flip two post sight. The rear sight is a standard style sight for this model. The tang sight is a ladder adjustable sight. This sight can be easily removed to protect the ladder sight. These sights appear to be original to the rifle’s time frame and period of use. The action works just fine with no issues. This Winchester shows use and wear. However, you can see that this rifle was well cared for. The original bluing still shows in protected areas of this gun. The surface is mostly brown patina with the protected areas of bluing as mentioned. The stock and forend have no cracks or other damage. The wood does show it’s use and wear. There are some mild dents and bruises showing up to the wood as would be expected for a frontier used Winchester. The Original box of 45-60 ammunition by Winchester is in very fine original condition. The shells are clean with no damage or corrosion. This box is a correct period box for this 1881 Winchester! These boxes are really hard to find in this fine of condition today! This box will go with this Winchester, This 1876 Model Winchester shows honest wear and use. This Winchester would be a fine addition to any frontier collection!

For those folks that do not know me yet, I’m very hard of hearing on the phone. Therefore when you would call me, I will pick up the phone and tell you that I will call you right back. I have caller ID just so that you know, the reason for that is I cannot use a regular phone. I have to switch over to what is called a voice carry over phone. When I call you back you will hear my voice in our conversation, an operator will type your conversation to me on my phone view screen. With me reading what you are saying to me saves me a lot of confusion for me mishearing words.
I do want to talk to you and answer your questions without mistakes or miscommunications. This system works pretty good, so please be willing to be patient with my hearing loss.
My wife Marcia has fine hearing on the phone and is quite knowledgeable about firearms and is very able to help you over the phone.
Thanks, Harry
