Colt Military Model 1911-A1 Pistol Charles Reed Inspected In Original Condition ITEM 3267

Item Number 3267 Category

This Colt was produced in 1940. The pistol’s serial number is 721467. The inspector is Major Charles S. Reed. This inspector is rare as he inspected few pistols during his tenure as inspector. In 1940 he inspected 4696 pistols. This very low number makes this Colt a rare sought after pistol for the collector today. Colt shipped these pistols to Springfield Arsenal in late 1940. Most of these pistols were then issued to the Navy. When you take into account the pistols that did survive World War Two and the rebuild programs there are very few of these original as issued Colts still in existence now. This pistol has the correct original barrel with a sharp bore. The slide is correctly serial numbered to the frame serial number. The wood grips are the correct style grips for this pistol. These wood grips are in fine condition with sharp checkering points. This pistol is in fine operating condition with a nice trigger pull.  The magazine is a correct Two Tone magazine. The original bluing would rate a 95% overall condition. The barrel retains almost all of the original bluing. The grips have no damage or cracks. The checkering is sharp and clean. This Colt is a prime example of these rare pistols! This Colt would be one of the highlights of any Collection!
