This Colt Model 1911-A1 Military was produced in 1939. The pistol’s serial number is 716566. It has the correct original barrel in very fine condition. This pistol shows very little use or having been fired. The barrel by the ejection port has slight wear due to operating the slide. The slide is properly serial numbered to the frame behind the firing pin retaining plate. The original bluing would rate a 98% condition! The original wood grips are also in fine condition. This pistol has the correct two tone magazine. These 1939 Navy’s were the last Navy’s to have the blued finish. The purchasing requests totaled 4 orders for pistols for the Navy. The orders were completed in 1939 for a total of 3,636 pistols. This pistol was shipped December 1939 to U.S. Navy Supply Depot. Sewall’s Point Virginia, total of 1088 pistols delivered to Officer in Charge. Shipped directly from Colt, December 18th 1939. This Colt was part of this shipment. This Navy Colt would be very difficult to top! Most of the Pre War Navy pistols saw hard service or were lost in service. To find an original Navy Colt in this fine of condition is a stunning find!
