The “K” date is for 1934. First year of rearming! It was a secret code so that other governments did not know that Germany was rearming and producing armaments. This rifle’s serial number is 3826. The only thing that is not matched serial numbers is the cleaning rod which is serial number 175, This is not a duffle bag cut rifle. This rifle is chambered to shoot the German 8 m/m  service cartridge. The bore is in very fine condition with sharp lands. The original bluing would rate a 96% or better condition. The stock is a solid wood stock. The stock has the droop eagle stamps and the “K” stamp below the trigger guard. There is other stamps also on this stock. The hand guard matches the stock. The original wood finish is fully intact. This rifle was not fitted with a front sight hood. The magazine floor plate and follower is not serial numbered. To find very early Nazi era rifles is a real find! Most of these early “K” date and “G” dated rifles saw heavy service and wear. very few of them survived the war. This rifle is a very fine example of these early 98K rifles. This rifle would be a fine addition in any military collection.
