Remington Model 1917 Military Rifle In Original Service Condition With Bayonet ITEM 3389

Item Number 3389 Category Tag

This Remington’s barrel date is 2-18. The rifle’s serial number is 169293. The 2-18 date on this barrel shows this rifle was used in the World War! This rifle has the correct Remington barrel. The bore is in very fine condition with a bright bore and sharp lands. All of the parts are correctly marked for Remington. This includes the bolt, cocking piece, bolt sleeve, firing pin, Rear sight, Front sight, Bolt stop, ejector, Magazine well, and Receiver. I did not take this rifle completely apart, but there is no reason to feel that the rest of these parts will be marked for Remington. There may be a few parts by Eddystone as Remington owned the Eddystone plant. I read in the book that Eddystone and Remington did exchange parts on occasion to speed up production. This rifle however is primarily all Remington as issued. The original receiver bluing would rate a 92% overall condition. The bolt would rate about 45% original bluing. This is common for the bolt to show wear due to the bolt being worked during shooting and with training. The barrel still has the original bluing intact. The trigger guard and floor plate retain about 75% of the original bluing. The stock is in very good condition, showing service use and wear. There is no cracks or wood damage to the stock and hand guards. This rifle has not been through a rebuild or restoration program. The original nickel plated brass oiler and cleaning tool storage tube is in the stock compartment. This rifle has the Kerr no buckle sling on this rifle. These slings were used quite often with these rifles. The bayonet is a correct Remington Bayonet Model 1917. This bayonet has not been resharpened or damaged. The Leather scabbard is a correct scabbard for this rifle. This scabbard is in very fine condition with no issues. These Model 1917 rifles in original as issued condition are rare today! These rifles were used in two world wars and other conflicts. Many of them saw rebuild programs and repairs. Also due to the highly corrosive ammunition used in those days many of them were re barreled. This Remington has escaped that fate of the other rifles. Here is a fine example of the World War 1 Issued Model 1917 Rifle By Remington with it’s bayonet! This rifle would be a very fine addition to any military collection!
