ITEM 1897 – SOLD – Smith &Wesson Model 53 In First Year Production For 22 Jet With Original Box and Papers

SOLD

Item Number 1897 Category

This Smith & Wesson was produced in 1961 in the first year of production. The pistol’s serial number is K448280. It has the early 4 screw frame. It has the standard 6 inch 22 cal. barrel. The barrel is properly marked 22 Magnum. This pistol has the original diamond around the screw hole grips. The frame is fitted for the two firing pins. One for the 22 Jet centerfire cartridge and the other for 22 Rim Fire. The hammer also has the dual selector striker at the hammerhead to select the correct firing pin to use. The sights are the standard target model sights. The color cased hammer and trigger have strong vivid colors. The original bluing would rate a 98% or better condition. The action works correctly and smoothly. There is the usual faint drag line between the cylinder stops. Also included are six cartridge inserts to convert the 22 Jet chambers to shoot 22 rimfire ammunition. The original box has the accessories and instruction manual intact. The box is sound with no damage. There were 14956 of these 22 Jet pistols produced between 1961 to 1974. There are very few first-year 4 screw frame pistols produced. These first-year model 53’s are very collectible and especially with the original box and accessories intact. This is one of the nicest ones to come up in many years!

In Regards to Phone Calls

For those folks that do not know me yet, I’m very hard of hearing on the phone. Therefore when you would call me, I will pick up the phone and tell you that I will call you right back. I have caller ID just so that you know, the reason for that is I cannot use a regular phone. I have to switch over to what is called a voice carry over phone. When I call you back you will hear my voice in our conversation, an operator will type your conversation to me on my phone view screen. With me reading what you are saying to me saves me a lot of confusion for me mishearing words.

I do want to talk to you and answer your questions without mistakes or miscommunications. This system works pretty good, so please be willing to be patient with my hearing loss.

My wife Marcia has fine hearing on the phone and is quite knowledgeable about firearms and is very able to help you over the phone.

Thanks, Harry
