Winchester Lee Navy Rifle In The Rare Commercial Military Model With Original Bayonet ITEM 3511

Item Number 3511 Category Tag

This Winchester was produced in 1898. The rifle’s serial number is 10501. The original Winchester barrel is chambered for the 6 M/M Lee Navy cartridge. The bore is in fair condition. The sights are original to this rifle. The straight pull action works properly with no issues and locks up tight. The stock is in very fine condition. There is no cracks or other issues with this stock and handguard. The original bluing would rate a 97% or better condition. The top of the receiver has the serial number present. There is no Navy Anchor or Navy Inspector stamp on the receiver. This rifle is exactly like the Navy contract rifles only without the Navy acceptance stamp. These commercial military rifles are considered very rare as few were made. The bayonet is a correct military bayonet with the triangle “T” inspector stamp. These bayonets are quite rare today. The scabbard metal tip comes loose and will fall off. It can be glued on but I prefer to have a expert handle this issue. This rifle would be a fantastic addition to a advanced military collection. There is a whole research file on these rifles that will go with this Winchester.
