This Winchester was produced in 1944. The rifle’s serial number is 2517641. This Winchester has no rebuild stamps or Import stamps. This Winchester has the original 24 inch Winchester undated barrel chambered to shoot the 30-06 service round. The bore is in very fine bright condition. The barrel muzzle has not been flared out. The rear sight are the correct Winchester lock bar sight. The front sight has the Winchester flared ears. The stock is correctly marked with the WRA GHD in the box with the ordnance crossed cannons. All of the parts appear to be original Winchester parts for the time frame and serial number range. The safety is marked WRA 1 for example. The gas nut is the correct early single slot variation. The Winchester operating rod is uncut. The stock compartment has the original early tools in the stock. There is a small brush that I forgot to put with the stock tools that go in the stock compartment. The leather sling is dated 1944. This Winchester shows some service use and wear there is no abuse on this fine Winchester. The original metal finish would rate a 94% condition or better condition. The wood original finish would also rate about the same condition. This Winchester has the appearance of having all of the original parts as it left Winchester in 1944. To find an original Winchester M1 Rifle is a big deal! Most of these rifles have been upgraded or rebuilt through the years. Having a fine bore is a real plus with this rifle! Here is a first rate Winchester M1 Garand that would be a wonderful addition to any military or Winchester collection.
